With perseverance, hard work, and Taiwan’s renowned quality, Sparkle Industrial Co., Ltd. has joined forces with domestic manufacturers to move into the aerospace sector. In recent years, both the aerospace and medical industries have continued steady growth, and Sparkle has kept pace with market trends—ultimately winning entry into AIDC (Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation) and Evergreen Aerospace Precision, among other aerospace manufacturers.

Chairman He Yi-Tong noted that aerospace represents an entirely new threshold. Beyond stricter machine specifications and accuracy verification, machines must leverage compensation functions to elevate performance to the highest level. Everything is exacting—from the selection of dielectric fluids to the measurement instruments that monitor EDM status. Requirements include constant-temperature machining environments, flow meters to monitor flushing oil volume, and waveform recorders to observe discharge waveforms, ensuring high quality and stable machining.

Acceptance testing of the machine is only the beginning. What follows—toolpath planning and application of EDM parameters—is a fresh challenge. Breaking away from traditionally simple paths, Sparkle combines rotary table workpiece indexing with multi-axis synchronous motion to avoid interference, aiming for maximum efficiency with the fewest electrodes. One major hurdle during delivery was fixture design.

Working with EROWA and 3R fixturing systems, Sparkle designed a dedicated large adapter plate capable of mounting multiple quick-positioning chucks. The plate has a diameter of Ø500 mm, and clamping precision is controlled within 10 µm. With this adapter, manufacturers can significantly reduce electrode costs and electrode manufacturing time, and dramatically improve productivity by machining multiple cavities in a single setup.
